Growing up in war-torn Sudan, Abaker moved to Australia in 2003 and has since made a name for himself in the music industry. He is the architecture of the Street Dreams project in St Marys NSW.

Beatrice moved to Australia in 2013 and straight away got involved in serving her community as secretary of the Kenyans in Sydney Welfare Association. She has also studied nursing and works in various aged care facilities across NSW.

Born in South Africa, Adam, is C0-Founder of Humanitix, the first not for profit ticketing company in the world dedicated to unlocking the philanthropic potential of every event and redistributing booking fees to charitable organisations around Australia.
Friends of Africa Award 2017
BDCC supports Ugandan Cricket Association with cricket gear since 2005. This good gesture started when one of the members of the BDCC saw Uganda cricket team players sharing equipment while participating in a high profile International Cricket Council match in 2005.
Projects in Africa
Gennarosity Abroad was founded by Sydney-based Genevieve Radnan after she completed a volunteer placement in Kenya in 2010. The Foundation that has been growing year after year has created ongoing employment and education opportunities for local people in Kenya especially women and children.

Born in Ghana, Kwasi is an Australian actor and talk-show host. He is also a well-known MC in the African community who has hosted numerous events including the AMMA awards, musical concerts and comedy shows.

Rev. Navazu is a voice for those less fortunate than her and works tirelessly through her Organisations Nakango Vision and Agape Community Church to ensure Africans living in Australia feel integrated in their new country.

Moses is a youngster who has taken on the world of entertainment with a bang. He has a huge following playing the best Afro music in Sydney. Moses is known in the wider African community entertaining at numerous events.

Juliet is an African Australian originally from Zimbabwe. She works in the health sector of NSW specializing in community nursing. She has served on the executive of the African Women's Group Australia Association as Secretary.

Another enterprising and inspirational African Australian from Kenya. Julia hosts the famous online radio show “Down Under Radio,” in Sydney. She has hosted many outstanding African Australians during the “Authentic Women” show.

Elvis is of Kenyan origin, an aspiring Public Health Specialist and a humanitarian leader. He has recently graduated with a double Majors Degree in Public Health and Epidemiology from Western Sydney University.

Andrew was born in Nigerian. A business acumen who has dominated the music business in NSW as the CEO of the Electric Heads Music label. His passion and dedication saw him scoop the AAMA award in 2014.

Considered a veteran in the NSW community services, Abulla continues to inspire and motivate other African Australians to join this important sector. Abulla is a currently a settlement Team Leader at SydWest Multicultural Services.

Leonie is a Jamaican born with a big heart of gold towards the African community. She currently supports the Let African Children Learn Association (LACLA) in Zambia through which she raises money for young girls to help fund their education, develop technology and computer skills.
Projects in Africa
This Life Foundation founded by Mercy Akongo is supporting child-headed families in Northern Uganda. Mercy also support a children`s home in Kenya called The Good Samaritan Children Home which is located in Mathare slum in Nairobi. Through her projects, Mercy has helped provide formal and informal education to orphaned children or those from poor families.

London born Yoruba woman, Ttobie has a post graduate certificate in Digital Marketing and a Master degree in Sustainability from the University of Sydney. She has served as executive on various women groups of NSW.

Moses is another enterprising African Australian who has excelled in engaging the African community as a Master of Ceremonies at various events. He is also an entrepreneur running a successful Photography business in Sydney.

Mengedie was born in Sierra Leone and moved to Australia in 2005. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in engaging the Sierra Leone community in NSW through games, sports and other events

SydWest Multicultural Services is the largest multicultural organisation in Western Sydney, a leading NGO assisting and empowering CALD communities for over 30 years. SydWest’s services & programs help the most vulnerable within the CALD population in the Blacktown and Nepean regions.

DJ Fasmwa is one of Australia’s leading Caribbean DJs based in Sydney. He is passionate and talented and loves playing Caribbean and Afro Caribbean music. His love for Afro Beats has made him a darling for 100s of African Australians who attend his weekend gigs.
