Celebration of African Australians NSW to mark 10th anniversary in style

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of celebrating, acknowledging and recognising the achievements of African Australians in NSW. To mark this feat, Celebration of African Australians Inc. will host a unique 10th anniversary dinner event at the prestigious Ashfield Leagues Club in Ashfield on Saturday 2 December 2023.

“It has been ten years of celebrating excellence, recognising achievements and motivating others. This is huge for us and we intend to host a spectacular dinner event where we shall have past award recipients come together for a meal, entertainment and dance.” Revealed Ronnie Kakaire the State Coordinator for NSW.

Celebration of African Australians started in 2011 from South Australia with the main objective of acknowledging, celebrating and appreciating the individual excellence of African Australians in various states and territories. In doing so, the organisation identifies role models who serve as mentors to young African Australians; inspire and motivate others to utilise the vast opportunities available to them; and promote Australia as a multicultural society where all ethnic groups have a ‘Fair Go' for opportunities.

The organisation had its inaugural national function in 2012 at the Sydney Opera House that was attended by hundreds of African Australians, friends of Africa, members of parliament and ministers from various states and territories. The second national function of the same magnitude as the first one was held at Parliament House in Canberra in 2013.

In 2014, States and Territories started hosting own functions and carrying out state-based projects and services.

“I am so delighted to have been part of this brilliant organisation for the last ten years. As part of the volunteer team, I have seen so many people come to the limelight and many so excited about the fact their efforts have been recognised.” Stated Sharon, a three-time award winner and volunteer.

At this years’ 10th anniversary celebrations, there will be lots of entertainment, a taste of African cuisine, networking, and socialising.

The new Premier of NSW is expected to grace the function alongside ministers, members of parliament, celebrated African Australians, representatives from various organisations, ambassadors and high commissioners among many others.
