It was all celebrations and smiles as the Kenyans in Australia stole the show dominating the Celebration of African Australian Awards in Sydney December 8.
The annual awards saw over 80 African Australians hailing from different African countries win accolades in different disciplines including academics, leadership, sports, talent, community engagement, entertainment, professional excellence and many others.
According to the state coordinator of NSW Ronnie Kakaire, the 2018 awards dinner was special because for the first time, African emerging youngsters were also inspired with awards.
"Each year we try and bring something different in the awards functions. This year, we identified and acknowledged various youngsters that were outstanding in various disciplines as African Australians. This is the future and inspiring them to even aim for greater things is the best we can do for them." Ronnie remarked.
The Awards dinner was supported by Multicultural NSW, Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club, Canterbury Leagues and numerous individuals. The function was attended by celebrated Africans, MPs, Ministers and Ambassadors from different African countries.
The next round of Awards will be hosted in November 2019 at a new venue.
