“We are calling on all Africans, African Australians, Friends and lovers of Africa and the general public to nominate persons and entities for the various Award categories. The categories have been expanded to include outstanding youngsters, advocates for minority groups, motivational speakers and Pan Africanists ambassadors among others.” Revealed Ronnie Kakaire the State Coordinator for NSW.

The aim and objectives of Celebration of African Australians NSW is to celebrate, appreciate and showcase the numerous contributions of Africans to themselves or to the economic growth and prosperity of NSW. Charities and organisations with projects in Africa are also acknowledged alongside friends of Africa.

Celebration of African Australians NSW will be celebrating six years of recognising outstanding African Australians. The state-based awards started in 2014 hosted by Parliament House. In 2015, the awards were hosted at Dooleys Lidcombe Club, Canada Bay Club (2016), Bankstown Sports Club (2017) and Canterbury Leagues Club (2018).

“Our hosts this year are known to us, they have done tremendous renovations to the facility, improved parking and the food is the best.” A member of the organising committee remarked.

Celebration of African Australians Inc. has also hosted national awards since 2012 (Sydney Opera House), 2013 (Canberra Parliament House), 2016 (Brisbane). Sydney will host the national awards in 2020 at The Star.
